One of the comments we enjoy getting from Miracle Truss® customers is how much they enjoy the fact that their pre-fabricated metal buildings don’t have to look like…well, a pre-fabricated metal building.
To be fair, it’s the metal siding that makes these DIY building kits cost effective, as well as virtually maintenance-free. This choice for an exterior is hardly the only option, though.
Traditional Elements
One of the biggest gripes people have about DIY building kits is their lack of aesthetics. It’s a square or rectangular metal box with a roof. It’s important to know that this is just a starting point. There’s no reason you can’t upgrade the look with a roof overhang, and then add fascia and soffits.
Your Miracle Truss® building will immediately take on a custom look. The additional benefits are that this will help keep snow and rain away from your windows and doors.
The Wainscot Wall Panel Effect
If you do decide to stick with metal siding, consider breaking up the large area of a single color with 2 colors. Decorative wainscoting will increase the visual appeal of your building. It’s especially useful if your building is taller.
We offer a wide variety of roofing, siding, and trim colors—17 to be exact. They’ve been carefully selected to complement each other, so you can mix and match.
Alternatives to Standard Metal Siding
Our buildings are designed to support just about any choice of exterior sidings. We make it easy for you by offering packages that include just the trusses and the superstructure, so you can go with non-metal exterior options for both the roof and sides.
Composite singles and tile work beautifully with Miracle Truss® designs. Our edge-mounted roof purlins are just 24 inches apart, adding superior strength and ease to using just about any traditional roof material.
You can also go with just about anything for the siding. Again, 24-inch sidewall construction capability is built in to the design. This makes it easy to opt for durable and lightweight vinyl siding. It also means you can match the exterior of existing buildings on your property.
Some of our customers have gone with either fiber cement lap or wood siding. You’ll need wood sheeting for the fiber cement lap, but plywood siding will attach directly to the girts. One popular wood option is T1-11 that comes with grooves to imitate vertical ship lap siding.
The story goes that Henry Ford didn’t care much for the idea of offering customers options or colors. “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black,” he’s reported to have said.
Of course, he was thinking along the lines of mass production. While our buildings are affordable because they are pre-engineered, and the components are factory produced, we’ve got the technology down to offer you a wide array of options for exterior finishes.
